The environmental policy shows best throught the projects undertaken at Icelandic New Energy. Health, Safety and Environment is closly interconnected in all our work. OUr corporate social responsibility shows in the recycling of paper and seperation of waste, as well as car pooling and using bicyles and buses as much as we can.
Hydrogen can be a renewable energy carrier when it is made from water. When using renewable energy, efficient energy conversion technology and strict household rules to keep down waste, the hydrogen energy chain can be one of the best options for a sustainable energy system. When hydrogen is used in a fuel cell the only outcomes water vapour and the energy is converted to electricity.
Care must always be taken to avoid shifting any environmental burdens from for example the drive phase to the production of the equipment. The advancements within the efficiency and material savings in the fuel cell technology have been fantastic during the last decades. According to the outcomes of the Life Cycle Impact Assessment (report no 16 in the ECTOS reports) the environmental burden of using hydrogen and producing fuel cells is much less than from our conventional internal combustion gasoline or diesel vehicles.
It may take 10 - 15% of the renewable energy sources that are still available in
